College Green Medical Practice Celebrates First Macmillan Coffee Morning
On Friday, 27th September, College Green Medical Practice celebrated its first Macmillan Coffee Morning, bringing together patients and staff in a warm and supportive environment. The main aim of the event was to create a cancer peer support network, which was welcomed by all the patients, especially during their cancer care reviews.
The event took place at College Green Medical Practice and was led by Dr Gupte, our GP partner with a special interest in cancer and palliative care, who also serves as the Clinical Cancer Lead for BSOL ICB. She was supported by our cancer champion, Annabelle Hawkins, and various other team members.
We had three guest speakers who discussed their journeys of living with and beyond cancer, which resonated deeply with other attendees on similar paths. This created a valuable opportunity for guests to connect and share what they found useful during their experiences.
A significant reflection from the day was that “Connecting with others who truly understand can be incredibly healing.”
Thanks to the generous donations of cakes, biscuits, tea, and coffee from our staff, patients, and the practice, we enjoyed a delightful spread. Together, we raised nearly £500 for Macmillan, making the event not just a gathering of support, but also a meaningful contribution to a worthy cause. Thank you to everyone who participated and contributed!
